“Open wide!”
But just as Jay swallowed the strange-tasting liquid, he realized
his mother wasn't holding the spoon and he was beginning to feel very peculiar!
Instead, he saw a man with a long beard. Behind him, was another
man who had a bushy mustache, and long, red hair.
He was lying on a stretcher. He seemed to be in a hospital, but he
wasn't quite sure.
Jay felt very dizzy. He tried to remember what had happened before
that, but he could not concentrate. He tried staring at a certain circle of all
the circle designs on the wall, but each time after he looked at a certain one,
it seemed to blur and turn into two other circles.
Jay gave up after a while. He dare not ask a question to the men,
for he thought they might be out to murder him. The two men whispered and
murmured to each other.
“He seems okay,” Jay heard one of the men whisper to the other.
“Think he's not co...ous,” the long bearded man said.
“Hopefully, he's no...ous,” the red haired man said.
Jay missed out some words, but he made out most of it.
Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore and he asked, “Where am I?
Where are my parents? What is this place? What is your name? Who are you?!”
The questions came bursting out without him thinking.
“Don't you know...oh wait, you had a concussion, so you don't
remember anything...I am Dr. McLuhan, your family doctor, and this is Dr.
Mark,” he nodded in the direction of the red haired man.
Dr. Mark continued for Dr. McLuhan, “you were riding your bike and
as you fell off, you hit the concrete. You lay there for a long time, until you
were found by a neighbor. The neighbor had just moved in and did not know who
you were and belonged to. So she dragged you into the house, and luckily I had
been her husband and just found a job as a doctor here. The first person who
became my friend was Dr. McLuhan.”
Dr. McLuhan finished, “I recognized you as my personal favorite
patient. I called your mom, and she's on her way. Here,” he handed Jay a cup of
warm water, “it has a special medical ingredient that should help you gain some
memories.”
Jay drank the water nervously, for he still had some suspicions.
But soon he had gained many memories, and in one was Dr. McLuhan.
Soon, his mother came, and he went home—all suspicions and lost
memories gone.
His life went on as usual, but he still had a couple of surprises
waiting for him!
