A Tree

The tree was a tall adult standing outside on a sunny day. It was bursting with colors of bright red, orange, and yellow. The trunk of it was brown like the dirt. The tree was dancing with the gentle wind.

I smelled sweet sap. I heard a soft rustling-no I heard- Ah! A bear! Run for your lives! (This is the fictional part.)

I ran across my backyard to the deck, opened the gate on the deck, ran to the door, and knocked on it hard. In a few seconds, my dad opened the door, and said, “What?” in in a calm voice.

I shouted, “There’s-(pant)-a-(pant)-bear!” I pointed behind me, but there was no bear, just the tree.

Oh, oops. My dad was staring at me like I was crazy.

I went back to the tree, and got my pencil and notebook. I went into my house, but I was not in my house. I was in-I was in-I was falling in pitch-black darkness!

Ah!

I blinked my eyes three times hard. When I opened them the third time, I was- I was looking out the window of my room, and there was a big mark on my writing assignment. What in the world?

I was so confused!
